Happy Valentine's Day!!

I'm so amazingly behind on blogging, but I wanted to get this up before the day is over. :)

Just the basic heart hairdo. If you want some simple instructions, here's one I did last year with braids, but it's the same idea:

Better Late than Never, Right??

I meant to post this last week, when it actually was Valentine's day, but oh well. Next year this will come in handy for someone. :)

With 9:00 church, the time goes by a little too quick to do any real time-consuming hairdos, and the Valentine's heart was no exception. So, I borrowed this great rubberband-wrapping idea, and made this heart in about 5 minutes. Super easy. If I did it again, I would use a more contrasting band, just so you could see the wrapping a little better, but overall it was really cute. (Hopefully you can imagine a nice sleek do instead of this one with hairs all over. I forgot to take the photo before we left.)

I'm sure many of you got a lot of attention for the heart dos, right? Emma's teacher told me that Emma got her picture taken for the yearbook with this do. Crazy! :)

A simple idea...

Abby's Mom sent over this photo for me- this is what she did with our heart clips for Abby's Valentine's Day party. Super cute!

Emma's Valentine Do...

This is how we fixed Emma's hair for school today. Started just like this one, but instead of braids, I just twisted the sections. (Her hair is not as long as Abby's, and wouldn't have looked as good with the braids.) Super cute for a V-Day party!

Super Easy Heart Clips

I made these just now with the kids all running around crazy playing dress ups and planning a "show." Apparently the show includes tickets, a super dramatic red head, a bossy little ticket maker, and a cousin who's torn between which kid to listen to. (I only tell you this so you know how easy they are)

Materials are easy- Felt sheets (around $.40 each) Embroidery Thread (around $.40) and needles. Just cut out your first heart, make a second one just a bit bigger, and do a running stitch around the edge. I just hot glued a snap clip to the back.

Super easy, cheap and cute hair accessory for the next few days. :)

Another Heart Do...

I'm sure many of you look at many hair blogs, which right now, have many heart hairdos. I'm positive that this braid/ribbon combination is somewhere out there in the hair blog world, but this was my simple take on a cute heart do.

1. Simple ponytail- start it not too high, but not too low on the head- You need to make enough room for the top curve of the heart, and the bottom point.

2. I like to tie the ribbon in at this point, just loop it around your elastic, and then tie in a simple knot at the top.
3. Topsy-Tail upside down so it comes out of the top of the pony. (*I made the mistake of not including the ribbon on this photo- make sure to pull the ribbon through as well.)
4. Split the hair into two sections (will end up with 2 braids) Start one braid, using the ribbon as one of the sections of hair.
5. Braid all of the way down, and tie with an elastic. Repeat with the other side.
6. I use bobby pins at this point. I found these great small ones at Sally's a few weeks ago- they come in a little tin, and you can see the size difference. I love them for the little girls' hair, just because they don't stick out as much. You can see direction of the pins with the red arrows...

Toddler Heart...

Doing shorter hair is pretty hard sometimes, but this one was really simple, and turned out really cute. It's only 10:30, and we've already gotten 3 comments on it. :)

I started out by adapting this do by only doing one heart, then instead of leaving Maia's hair down (which usually ends up super crazy by the time we're out of the car.) I pulled up both sides into simple pigtails.

Sorry for the fuzzy photos- still working on getting used to the camera.
