Ballerina Bun...

I've wanted to do a video of the ballerina bun for quite a while. I've waited for a nice quiet time when I could do it, but unfortunately, it hasn't happened. So, instead, I thought I would give you a real-life look into a morning of fixing Emma's hair.

Before you watch, I'd like to point out a few things...

1. Michael's exceptional eating manners. It's not until I watched the video that I realized that he is totally chewing like a cow- mouth open, stuffing food in, even getting out of breath in one section! He makes a mother proud. :)

2. The riddle that Emma answers is "What kind of suit does a duck wear." Yeah, it's one of those cheesy homework assignments.

3. Michael is the king of syrup. He'd eat it on spaghetti like Buddy the Elf if I'd let him. He also likes to share this love of syrup with the little girls.

4. It's pajama day tomorrow. Michael's excited if you can't tell.

5. Maia and Ruby pretending to burp halfway through. That's my girl! :) (I actually hate burping...)

6. My kitchen counter is all sorts of messy because I had to wake up early to make rolls. 5 dozen of them.

7. I usually do talk to my kids during breakfast, but being the only one that knew the camera was rolling, I didn't want to. :)

So, basic idea of this bun, start with a ponytail, then pull small sections, roll forward (I roll twice, but it depends on the length of the hair) and then pin with bobby pins on both sides of the rolls.

The little jingle bell hair tie was from Claire's. I told Emma that her teacher could take it out if it was too distracting. I can only imagine how many times little jingles would sound when Emma was working...

Spirit Week- Holiday Headwear...

I didn't mention yesterday that this is "spirit week" at school. Today is wearing holiday headwear, and luckily, I found some super cute little antlers at Claire's. (They play jingle bells and the little holly berries light up.)

I was going to weave her hair around the headband, but knowing Emma, she doesn't like wearing headbands all day, and last time I did pull the hair around a headband, her teacher had to pull it out and her hair looked awful the rest of the day. So, we just went with a super simple do of 3 ponytails curled and pulled up into messy buns.

In other random news, this is the last week of my first Masters class. I've been trying to work during the days to get my last huge research papers done, and this is usually what I have to deal with. Ruby's not a fan of me at the computer. :)

A quick Holiday Do...

This is a super quick, but really cute style, and you can adapt it to any holiday by changing the ribbon. I just love it on Christmas because it ends up looking like Emma's a little present. :)

Anyway, just take three small sections at the top of the head (I do it right at the top, and as you can see from the picture, I pull the center one into the two side sections, only because I don't like it when the center piece of hair is flopped off to one side.)  Then add ribbons by tying the sections onto the rubberband instead of the actual ponytail. (This helps them stay in place better.) Curl up the ribbon with some scissors, and you're all set!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Time for some Christmas dos! We had a Christmas party at our church last night, so what a perfect occasion for some cute dos! Em's was a pretty cute little wreath- lots of compliments. The photos kind of tell the story, so I won't bore you with the words. :) Maia's was really simple and easy, just three pull-throughs and lots of flat iron curls.

The question I was asked the most last night was where I got their hair clips. I'm proud to say that I made them. I got the pieces in the Christmas section of Michaels. I think they were meant to make glittery little floral arrangements, but all I saw was hair clips. :) I'd be happy to make a few more if any of you would rather buy them instead of making your own. Just leave a comment!

**Stacy, I really tried to record using the topsy tail, but Maia wouldn't stay still. I'll do something with Emma today.
