4-braid half...

I did this do yesterday, because I was going to the dentist. Why do I need a half when I'm going to the dentist? Because if I pull it into a ponytail or in a bun like usual, It really bugs me when I'm laying back in the chair. Anyway, here's the steps:

1. Pull a small section together in the middle-top of your head with a rubberband. (This is kind of a base where the braids will meet.)

2. Braid a section in a simple braid and pull back to the base and tie with a rubberband. (You can see that I have multiple layers of rubberbands- one for each braid)

3. Repeat.

4. Curl the hair that is left down. (Or don't.) :)

5. Pull up in a bun the next day and reuse your braids! A little more casual and messy-looking, but it works!

Curlformers...

So I love Curlformers. I think most anyone who loves doing hair and who has tried them, loves them. The reason I love them is that they make the most perfect little spiral curls, and they stay in FOREVER. Seriously, they look great all day long, even after hours of playing and running around. So there's my plug for Curlformers. If you don't have them already, I'd highly suggest making the investment. (I got mine at Sally's- I think they were about $7 per package of 6, and we use 2 packages.)

So, here's the do...I usually like to leave it mostly down when I use these, so I just took the front sections and did small braids, tied them together in the back, and then pulled curled sections on top of the braid. I did add this cute flower, but then changed it to a bow when Em had decided what dress to wear. Super cute.

Maia's hair is very simple, just a different take on the simple front-section-pulled-to-the-side hair.

Also, I was going to do a Momma do today, but I ended up just straightening my hair (which takes FOREVER so I usually never do it.) Not so fun for a hair blog. :)

Here are a couple of others that I did using Curlformers- Also, if you do some cute stuff with them, check out Babes in Hairland- she's doing a hairshare using Curlformer dos. :)

iCopy iCarly...

So I really don't love that my little girl is growing up enough to watch (and enjoy) shows like iCarly on Nick, but one thing I love about the show is her friends hair (Sam) I love that even though her character is a super tough tom-boy, she always has super cute curly hair. Whoever has the job of curling her hair really takes it seriously- it looks great every single moment of the show- and it makes me jealous. :)

Anyway, When Emma was sick this past week, we were watching the very first episode of iCarly on Netflix, and Sam's hair was super cute, so I copied it. Nice. :)

Momma Do...

I had a request to show more "momma dos" so here's mine from today. I have pretty thick hair, which has gotten more and more curly with each pregnancy. (Did this happen to anyone else??) So, I usually try to fix it when it's wet, which makes it much easier plus I don't have to wait for it to dry.

This is a super easy half-do. I just start with one section right at the crown of my head and tie it with a rubberband (I usually use black in my hair, but thought I'd use purple so you could see it) Then I just twist back sections of hair, tying each with a rubberband. (So I end up with about 4 rubberbands all overlapped at the end)

Once that part is done, I take the ends and twist them up and pin with a bobby pin. This is another part where the first banded section comes in handy- the pins have a section of hair that is secured enough to hold without getting to loose. Pretty easy, and fast too. The ends usually come out a bit and poke out, but I think it looks cute- a touch funky and fun. For more of a formal look, make sure to curl your hair first so if the ends are out, they kind of add to the look.

If I add a clip, I usually pin the twists below the rubberband, just so there's a spot for the clip to hold- and the clip covers this rubberband-

But, I usually go plain, so I pin the twists above the rubberband so they cover it-

So there you have it. I'm working on a video tutorial on how to curl hair with a flat iron, so if there's anything else that you would like to see or need more explanation on, please leave me a comment. Thanks!
