A French Braided Bun...

This was a fun one that I had originally had done on myself, but redid on Emma because it was so quick and easy, but ended up super cute.

Start out with a regular french braid on once side, and braid down to the bottom of the hair.

On the other side, start the french braid, but when you get about 3/4 finished with the main braid, bring the right side over into the left braid. I just incorporated it into one of the 3 braiding sections...

Finish the braid all of the way down. You'll end up with one braid on one side of the head.

I just took the braid and twisted it around into a little bun shape, but you could easily do a bun on the side of the head, or just leave that long braid instead. (Or you could tie it off closer to the head and then curl the ponytail for a fancier do...)

Here's how mine turned out- although my hair is not as photogenic as Emma's. :) You can't really tell, but because mine is shorter, it wasn't twisted around as much as Emma's- the one left braid was just pulled over to the right and pinned in place. Also, as the day went on, mine started pulling out a bit because of the shorter hair. It actually ended up looking like one of those super cute really messy braids. We went out on a little date this night, and two of the waitresses asked how it was done.

Side Pony and a Braid...

Maia was watching Dora yesterday before church, which is now my new secret weapon for hair fixing time. (She's recently OBSESSED with Dora...) Anyway, that gave me some time to do a little more fancy of a do on her.

1. French braid (or you could even just simple braid) the front section.

2. Start at the opposite side and rubberband small sections, adding the previous hair to each new band.

3. At the final rubberband, add the braided section.

4. Leave this as a ponytail, or make a cute little messy bun.

A little Funky

This is my niece, Maddie. She's really fun, and loves playing with my kids, which is really nice. She and her sister came to visit for the holiday, so I got to do her hair. Fun!

Her only request was that her hair was out of her face- she's got side-swept bangs, so I did a dutch braid and then connected it to one of the little twists. One side of her hair got little twists, the other was a simple braid with the three strands.

Also, here's my quick Momma Do for the day-

Short-Hair Cinderella

Here's my interpretation of Cinderella's hair when you don't have much to work with. I'll do one on Emma's head in a bit- I know we are all in crunch time for Halloween. :)

Section and rubber-band the hair as shown (If I were going to do it again, I would have made all three of those back ponytails right in a row instead of having the middle one further back. Also, near the end of the do, I ended up repositioning the two middle ones closer to the part.)

Next, pull up the back of the hair into rubber-bands- take this section and the front section and combine it with the middle ponytail.

Finally, curl the bits of hair, tease a bit and then hairspray into place. I did have a cute little blue ribbon/headband that would cover that first rubber-band and add to the Cindrella look, but Maia wouldn't keep it in because she believes that it is Ruby's. (Hopefully she's that nice about possessions when they are teenage girls.) :) This is also a great do for just everyday/fancy stuff.

For the Tween/Teen Crowd

So my nieces Savannah and Maddison love to visit me because they get to watch my kids, and help clean my house, and at some point, they usually get talked into me fixing their hair. :) So, here's some dos that we did when we were all together.

Savannah has long thick hair, which made this do pretty easy, but it could be done on shorter hair as well- the bun would just be more fluffy instead of curly like it is. You can't really see on the pictures, but there's the main braid from the deep side part, but on the other side there is another smaller braid.

Maddie has short hair (a little longer than chin-length) which made this really fun. She hates to have her hair pulled though, so the pull-throughs were a bit torturous for her. :) This looked really cute and a little bit punk-ish, which is just perfect for Maddie.

Anyway, just some fun hair from some different models.
